The Season of Plaid

The season of plaid is upon us and I couldn’t be more excited. I wrote this post in 2019 and have to admit, the outfit I’m wearing in it is giving me allllll the holiday feels. While re-reading it, I did give myself a little refresher on the difference between plaid and tartan, which stemmed from me wondering why sometimes the criss-cross multi-color pattern was sometimes referred to as plaid and sometimes as tartan. Click here to read more. Doesn’t tartan just sound more proper?

Anyway, I bought these outfits for the twins back in August, and almost immediately had buyer’s remorse. I got a great deal at 40% off, free shipping, AND $1 monogram on Savannah’s shirt, but then the outfits just sat around in my office. Y’all, it was August. What was I going to do with these adorable outfits? Then, the further into September we got, I realized we had fall family photos coming up with Lauren Holub, and immediately knew this is what the twins would wear.

Savannah’s Outfit

……..it’s the bows on the elbows for me

As much as I love this Old Campus Clad look from The Beaufort Bonnet Company, the bow details on her elbows are the real winner, and it comes in a onesie for smaller sizes. Savannah wears a 4T in TBBC in tops, dresses/jumpers, and skirts. Her socks, shoes, and bow are from Amazon, and everything is linked below.

Sullivan’s Outfit

……the prep school pants

Y’all. It’s the plaid pants for me. In all honesty, I would prefer a sweater with these pants, but trying to dress and photograph this 3 year old boy is becoming more and more difficult. I think there was some ice cream bribery here. We settled on a white polo (also seen here), which Sullivan has quite the collection of polos, so it was easy to grab one from the closet. His pants are a size 3T, and are kind of big on him (hence the rolling at the bottom.) They are adjustable in the waist, so I could make that fit, but they are just kind of long on him. His polo is a 4T. I tried getting him to tuck it in, but you know, the whole choose your battles thing.

The Stork Society

I know The Beaufort Bonnet Company can be expensive, especially for children’s clothing; however, they often do 40% off, free shipping, etc. that brings down the total price significantly. I am a firm believer in quality over quantity, and you will receive a good quality product with this brand. By joining the rewards program for TBBC, The Stork Society, you will earn points that will give you discounts. Also, subscribing to their emails is the best way to find out when they are running sales, discounts, promos, etc. If you would like $10 off of your first $75 purchase, just let me know and I can email you a link!

My dress is from Never A Wallflower and linked here and boots are sold out with similar here and here.

These looks are beautiful for not only fall pictures, but for Thanksgiving and all throughout the holiday season. Have a happy Friday!

Cheers – MP
