What Kind of NYE Girl Are You?
Oh New Year’s Eve – the excitement you bring so many hopeful individuals is just exquisite. The thought of something “new” has some sort of power in which it entrances those surrounded by it – excited, nervous, anxious, motivated, optimistic, and fear are just a few emotions I think of when thinking about something new.
As the clock strikes midnight and the ball drops in Times Square on NYE and you are possibly experiencing some of the above mentioned emotions with the coming of a new year, where will you be? Are you the type of girl to stay at home cuddled up by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate? Or are you going to a fancy dinner party with friends? Or, will you be out on the town shaking it on the dance floor until the sun comes up? In my many years of celebrating NYE, I’ve hit up all three of these at some point. There were definitely the going out days (6th Street in Austin – where you at?) The dinner party days (which fork do I use again?) and what I’ll be doing this year, staying in cozied up (ahhhh I can eat whatever I want and don’t have to wear spanx.)
I’ve braved my 4.5 month postpartum body to show you what I would wear for each one of these categories. Right now, the only thought I can even fathom when contemplating what to do on NYE is how early can I go to bed? The babies don’t yet understand what a holiday is 🙂 Enjoy!
Look #1 – Staying in, cozied up with hot cocoa
Grab a big ol’ chunky sweater, some comfy house shoes, your favorite blanket and that’s all you need! Because I’m a huge fan of accessorizing, I had to throw in this beautiful tartan scarf and beanie from J. Crew.
Look #2 – Dinner Party
What better way to ring in the new year than in a fun and flirty dress with sparkly heels? Throw in a metallic clutch and you’re all set! Just make sure to bring a gift for the hostesses 🙂 And bonus points if your clutch matches your champagne bottle!
Look #3 – A night out on the town
For this look, I’m ditching the sequins and subsituting something even better – VELVET. It is all the rage right now, and pairing that with a jumpsuit will surely have heads turning your way (I mean by other ladies admiring your outfit, of course.)
Well there you have it my friends – I want to wish every single one of you a very very Happy New Year! I also want to take this time to thank you for all of your support over this last year. 2018 was a fabulous year and I cannot wait for all the good things I have planned for you in 2019.
I’ll be toasting all of you in my dreams on NYE! Stay safe and have fun, but seriously, stay safe…uber, lyft, public transportation…..you get what I’m saying 🙂
Cheers – MP
