5 Low Maintenance Fall Decorating Ideas

When it comes to decorating for fall, I believe there are two types of people: 1) those who go above and beyond and transform their entire homes into an autumn wonderland and 2) those who are overwhelmed with the thought of going above and beyond, especially with Christmas right around the corner. Neither 1 or 2 is right or wrong, but just in case you are in group 2 and want to put out some decorations this fall without feeling completely overwhelmed (because life…..) then these 5 low maintenance fall decorating ideas are for you.

I have come up with FIVE super easy and low maintenance decorating ideas that all take minimum effort and money. For example, in the image above, I used lanterns that I already had out on display in my home and added in a few pumpkins and a blanket for Lola to sit on. That’s it. I had the pumpkins, the lanterns were already there, it took less than 10 minutes to set this space up in my home. And you can do the same! Continue reading to find out how!

1. Pumpkins

The easiest way to decorate for fall is buy placing a few pumpkins around your home. Whether these are faux pumpkins like the ones linked below (and quite festive I may add……) or real pumpkins that you buy from a pumpkin patch or your local grocery store, this can be done with minimum effort and time.

2. Fall Colors in the Kitchen

The thought of pulling out bins of fall decorations from the attic or garage could be a little overwhelming this year. I mean, we’ve all had a crazy 18 months of life with a little bit of uncertainty still ahead. I truly believe that the kitchen is at the center of a home, so focus your attention there and try adding just a few small touches to bring in the warm fall colors. I think the cake stand would be perfect on a counter top with a few simple pumpkins and a candle.

3. Faux Stems

This might be one of my favorite tips yet! You can literally transform a room by changing out the faux stems in a vase. Over the years, I seem to have collected a nice assortment of stems, and love switching them out with the seasons.

4. Doormat

Nothing says “Welcome!” like a friendly and seasonal doormat (ok, maybe being greeted by a glass of champagne comes in a very close second.) Your front door and porch area are an extension of your home, so while loading up with pumpkins and mums may not be your thing, a simple doormat switch could be just the right amount of fall your home needs.

5. Fall Candle

Scent has an incredible overall affect on the human body. It can boost your mood and spark memories. A no fuss way to give your home that fall feel is by lighting a fall candle. It always feels so cozy and warming with a candle lit in the house.
