Newborn Pictures

Lifestyle

Happy Monday, friends!  I can’t believe how quickly 3 months has gone by since the twins were born.  I’ve said this before – it’s been the longest, but also fastest 3 months of my life.  Weird, right?  How can something be slow and fast at the same time?  I don’t know – maybe some of you other mamas can help me explain it 🙂

Quick backstory before I get into the pics.  Obviously I didn’t plan to have the twins at 33 weeks.  And, as on top of everything as I thought I was, I completely forgot to book a photographer for newborn pictures.  Literally the week before the twins were born, I sent out a bunch of e-mails to different photographers asking if they were accepting new clients and if they were available sometime around the first part of September.  I’m not necessarily a newbie when it comes to booking photographers – I mean, I’ve booked engagement, bridal, wedding, maternity, and so on, so I should have known that photographers book up in advance.  The first few photographers I reached out to weren’t taking new clients, and I started freaking out a little.  Then, over that weekend, SURPRISE!  The twins made their grand debut.  It wasn’t until a couple of days later when my maternity pics were delivered to my inbox (I was still in the hospital) that I even remembered I needed a newborn photographer.  I mean, I was kind of busy and distracted at that point.  Enter Haley from Haley Stage Photography.  She was recommended by an Instagram friend and I am so thankful I found her.  Because the twins didn’t come home until day 10, we took their newborn pics when the they were 2 weeks old and had been home for a few days.

I wanted a clean, neutral, and causal look for the pictures.  Newborn pics need to focus on the baby (or babies in my case) and if you wear something too distracting, it might take away from the baby.  T and I are both wearing neutral colors and are very casual.  You’ll notice white, khaki, and jeans.  Haley was able to utilize several different spaces in our home for the pictures.  She came prepared with a box full of swaddles, bows, etc; however, earlier in the summer, after weeks of playing the game of should I buy this or not, I bought these adorable bow swaddles from the Beaufort Bonnet Company.  I’d also stumbled across  Lou Lou & Company and fell in love with their swaddles and basically everything else on their site.  Take a look below at how wonderful the pics turned out.  Haley, if you are reading this – I want to say, “Thank you!  100 times over!  You were able to capture my family at one of the most important and special moments of our lives.  Not only were you amazing to work with us (adults) but you have that special knack for working with newborn babies – even my 4 pounders!”

Cheers – MP
