The March Review

“A flower blossoms for it’s own joy.” – Oscar Wilde

I think Sullivan’s face says it all for how we felt in March. It was a big, “Are you serious?” and “Is this really happening?” month. But, nonetheless, we made it through, just like we are in April thus far; however, we did get to enjoy normalcy in the first part of the month, which seems so distant sitting here and writing about it. Things like going to the rodeo, going out to eat, and just a simple Sunday morning run to the grocery story seem like such risky behavior now.

Hopefully going back down pre-quarantine memory lane will bring you as much joy as it did for me. Enjoy!

Collabs

I did some pretty amazing collabs this month!

The first was with Molekule. This is an air purifying system and I swear it was the strangest coincidence how it happened. I had literally just been talking about how I needed an air purifier and was changing out my air vents in my home, and two weeks later I got an e-mail from the marketing company who was promoting this air purifier system. I have been so so pleased with it and absolutely love it. It’s quiet, sleek, and eco-friendly! And perfect for anyone with kids, pets, allergies, or if you just want that clean smell in your home.

The second was with Mapiful. I was so excited for this one because I love any sort of special item that reminds me of the twins. And what I was able to create was a poster of the stars the night the twins were born. It is truly one of the coolest things I’ve seen. And there are so many options to create – maps of cities, stars, zodiac signs! Just throwing it out there, but this would be an awesome Mother’s Day gift – and right now if you buy 1, you get the second 50% off. What’s really funny is every time the twins look at it, they say, “Ball!”

Also, these placemats from Honey Bear Pages for the twins are the cutest and keep my table safe from food. They can be customized and also go with my aesthetic. She also does invitations, notepads, and just has the cutest items for the littles.

I also partnered with KeaBabies. I LOVE their products for kids and my new backpack. It can hold so much, is comfortable to wear, and is less than $30. Click here to go to the post.

Audible Book

Before We Were Yours – this is an incredible book that I think everyone should read. It’s based off of a true story in Memphis in 1939. It goes back and forth between the past and current day and will make you angry, sad, happy, excited, and uneasy feeling all in the same chapter. I would warn you to read the summary first, because it can be a tough one for Mamas. But, for me, knowing what happened made me want to know how it ended. And the author did an incredible job of leaving you hanging chapter after chapter as Avery starting to figure it all out.

A Killer’s Wife – I love the books from Amazon’s First Reads program. I don’t love reading them on my phone via the Kindle app, but they are free, so I can’t complain. Sign up here to start receiving free books.

Events

Lola Mae’s 7th Birthday

I even made her pupcakes, recipe found here.

Girls’ Day for Brunch and Shopping

Lindly and I had brunch at The Oaks Kitchen in Cane Island and it was amazing. I had a chicken salad sandwich and she had tacos and we shared the most amazing brussels sprouts! Then we went to the Vintage Market Days of Southwest Houston in Katy and enjoyed walking around looking at all of the different booths. There were so many really cool vintage items and I felt like I was transformed back in time. I bought the twins some cute outfits and a bird and dragonfly figurine. And now they are obsessed with the bird and tell it bye bye every night and morning.

Rodeo

I am so glad we got to take the twins to the rodeo before it was shut down. The petting zoo was fun and once they warmed up to the animals, they would “gently” pet them. And a deer tried to eat Savannah’s dress πŸ™‚ And Sullivan would not leave the hand sanitizing station….so I had the “mom carries kid kicking and screaming out” moment.

And then they performed some sort of duo yoga trick…..not staged/planned/posed.

Photo Shoot with Shoott Photos

This is so cool. It’s a free shoot, and then you buy the pictures you want. We literally just got this shoot in before everything shut down. It’s so weird thinking back to how life used to be, and I am so glad we got to document it!

My dress is PinkBlush and their outfits are from Southern Smocked Company.

Glamfetti Balloons

First of all, I love all things Glamfetti. Tiffany creates the most amazing balloon garlands and has the cutest ideas when it comes to decorating. She created these balloon in a bag kits to give kids something to play with during quarantine. The twins loved playing with the balloons, and we still have a few floating around the house. So much fun!

Things We Took For Granted Before Quarantine

HEB trips, voting in the primary election, and doctor’s office visits…..just to name a few….

My Favorite Look

My favorite look this month was worn on the last day in the office. It’s kind of funny because I finally got a mirror to do my morning #workwear postings, and I think I used it for like two weeks before quarantine hit.

Blouse: Rolled Sleeve Shirt by Liverpool Jeans

Well, friends, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed walking back through the month of March. It is amazing to me to think back at how different the first half of the month was compared to the second half. Just remember to stay strong and we’ll get through this – there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Cheers – MP
