8 Ways to Freshen Up Your Home for Spring

Spring is the perfect time to freshen up your home. And unless you are doing major renovations, it can be done without breaking the bank. Below, I’ve shared eight ways to freshen up your home for spring. And no, cleaning is not one of them; however, it really is a good time to give your house a deep clean. I’m no pro on that and will not be giving detailed instructions of how to clean your baseboards, but I can tell you that I am always in the best mood on the day my house does get cleaned.

But seriously, if you still have Christmas decorations laying around, boxes piled up that need to be thrown in recycling, or clothes in your kids’ drawers that don’t fit them anymore, now would be the perfect time to handle these things…..just sayin’ as I add them to my ‘To-Do’ list 🙂 Enjoy!

1. Fresh Flowers

I feel like this goes without saying, but anytime you introduce fresh flowers to your home, it automatically freshens and livens things up. I buy fresh flowers for myself a couple of times a month because they really do put me in a better mood and just make me happy. I mean, it’s hard to have a bad day with a dozen blush colored roses staring at you 🙂 I buy most of my flowers from HEB (both for myself and bouquets for others.)

2. Throw

Tuck away all of your darker colored throws and set out your lighter and brighter throws. Use them as a way to incorporate texture to your decor, or as a bright pop of your favorite spring color!

I love the texture in this Amazon throw. It comes in several different colors and size options and is ON SALE!

3. Dish Towels

I have piles and piles of dish towels. I’m really trying to cut back on the amount of paper towels I use, which means I use more actual towels in the kitchen. I like towels that are functional and cute and seasonal! You cannot go wrong with the Spring Multi-Pack from Williams Sonoma. They are made from Turkish cotton and are durable and ultra-absorbent! Another option is the set from Hearth & Hand with Magnolia.

4. Front Door Mat

A front door mat is one of the first things your company will see when they come over. It’s a way for your to personalize and decorate your front door even if it’s not Christmas-time. I have curated quite the collection of door mats over the years, with this one currently on display! I have found a few options to shop a similar style: here, here, and here.

5. Bookshelf Decor

No judging, but when was the last time you really looked at your bookshelves and took inventory of what was on them? Use this as a time to declutter and minimize that overly decorated bookshelf. You want to incorporate greenery, possibly a candle, a few pictures, and some of your favorite decorative items like this ginger jar from Amazon and this Burst Decorative Object from Anthropologie. I’m also a huge fan of white orchids during the spring and summer. And as much as it pains me to admit, I typically go faux for these.

6. Accent Wall

The term grandmillenial has never been more clear to me than when I think about wallpapering an accent wall in the print below. I think it’s a beautiful way to add dimension, color, and life to a room! And now, so many wallpapers are peel and stick, meaning to water, no paste, and no mess! Gosh I just think this one is gorgeous! Click here to go to Amazon to shop!

7. Pillow Cover

This is my favorite pillow cover in my entire house. It is absolutely beautiful and also comes in green and red. Changing out pillow covers is one of the easiest ways to change your decor.

8. Lemon Vase

Or really any type of fruit. Having fresh fruit around will always give you that springy fresh feel. And lemons are just so beautiful to decorate with. They make a kitchen look clean and organized at all times.

Bonus: Hummingbird Feeder

Next week I’ll get into ways to springify the outside of your home, but in the meantime, I’ll leave you with this: I love watching my birds in the backyard in the mornings. I got so excited when my hummingbirds were around last fall, and cannot wait for their return this spring. I already have my feeders out and filled up. It’s so fun to sit and watch them with a cup of coffee in the mornings!

Well, friends, thank you for stopping by and make sure to give my Insta page a follow! Stay tuned for The Weekend Post coming out Saturday morning (full of more goodies!) Have a beautiful day!

Cheers – MP
