Peeps Rice Krispie Pops
*Typed while watching the Masters, and watching Tiger with his children made me tear up….Motherhood has turned me into a softie 🙂
With Easter right around the corner, I figured I would share a very simple and festive dessert idea that both adults and children will like. But first, close your eyes, go back to being 10 years old, and your mom needing an activity for you to do that doesn’t involve too much work or risk of harm. Now open your eyes……..I haven’t made rice krispie treats in FOREVER, so when I heard you could substitute Peeps for the marshmallows in everyone’s favorite childhood snack, I was all over it.
Y’all, this is seriously so fun and so easy to make. Here is what you’ll need:
- 4 10 count boxes of different colored Peeps – I used pink, yellow, green, and purple
- 4 tbsp butter (divided)
- 6 cups rice krispies (divided into 1.5 cups)
- LOTS of Pam (or non-stick spray of choice)
Step 1: Line foil in the bottom of a loaf pan or small casserole dish. Spray with cooking spray.
Step 2: Microwave 10 of the same colored Peeps and 1 tbsp butter for around 45 seconds (you know your microwave.) Keep in mind the Peeps will fluff up, so try using at least a 4 cup Pyrex mixing bowl.
Step 3: Mix in 1.5 cups of rice krispies.
Tip: Spray the spatula or wooden spoon down with the non-stick spray – the melted Peeps sticks to everything!
Step 4: Press firmly into the pan/dish. If you use your hands for this, spray your hand with the cooking spray. You can also use wax paper to press into the rice krispie mixture as well.
Step 5: Repeat the above steps for the remainder of your Peeps, creating 4 layers.
Step 6: Let completely cool before slicing. A serrated knife works best for slicing.
One of my favorite snacks are cake pops from Starbuck’s, so I decided to make these like pops. All you have to do is cut them into smaller pieces and insert a wooden stick (or cute decorative one) into the bottom.
Enjoy!
Easter Tablescape
One of my favorite things to do is change my dining room tablescape to match the season. Since the twins were born, I’ve really not had much time to do this. My dining room is the last place in my house that isn’t overflowing with baby stuff. The living room has turned into a play room, the bathroom has all of their toys, my bedroom has their clothes, toys, etc. Finally, this past week, I found some time to work on my Spring/Easter tablescape (I seriously could not take the red and gold of Christmas decor anymore.) Easter decor is just so much fun – the colors, patterns, bunnies, etc. I’ve linked as much as I can below – many of the items are old OR were picked up from Home Goods and hard to find online.
The pink and blue baskets on the table are very special to me. My grandmother has made one of these baskets for all 14 of her grandchildren and now 7 great-grandchildren 🙂 S & S don’t understand how special this is now, but they will one day.
Decorating Tip: I use cake stands all the time to add height to my table decor. This is the one I have, but try here, here, and here for others.

Gal Meets Glam Dress
This dress is as beautiful in real life as it looks on the Nordstrom website. The Gal Meets Glam spring line was released this past week, and I am in love. Julia Hengel, the founder and creator of Gal Meets Glam Blog and style line, is based out of Charleston and has that Southern, feminine style. I totally left her off of my list of favorite bloggers the other night on accident (what – is what late and I was tired.) This dress is just gorgeous on and is perfect for Easter, Sunday church, wedding guest, bridal/baby shower, or any sort of spring event/party you have coming up. Whether you decide to go with espadrilles, low block heels, or sandals, you will feel romantic and pretty in this dress. I would suggest keeping jewelry somewhat simple, because you do not want to take away from it’s beauty.
For other Gal Meets Glam – try here, here, and here.
Have a fabulous week! Reminder: Easter is on Sunday! Start planning your outfits for the weekend and getting them steamed/ironed. And remind the guys that the ball in the back of the closet that is their suit (and good shirt) needs to be dry cleaned before church on Sunday 🙂
Cheers – MP
