|The Monday Post| #32 – The Fall-ish Edit

“To say it was a beautiful day would not begin to explain it. It was that day when the end of summer intersects perfectly with the start of fall.” – Ann Patchett

I just don’t even know where to begin with this one. The month of September might be one of the trickiest months to dress for in the lone star state and surrounding areas. School is back in session, summer is basically over, your Instagram feed has been flooded with influencers wearing OTK boots, trench coats, and sweaters, but it’s still 100 degrees outside. I just checked the weather for my zip code and it will be 101 degrees later this week. What a fashion crisis! If we are lucky, we’ll get a cool front maybe at the end of the month and maybe one or two in October, but other than that, we are stuck with the heat for a few more months.

Today, I’m sharing 10 ways to dress for the fall without actually adding any extra layers of clothing. Stay cool, my friends!

1. Sleeveless Turtleneck

This is the perfect way to slowly introduce fall to your OOTD looks. To balance out the high neck, try wearing your hair in a pony or bun.

2. Moody Florals

Drop the bright yellow florals for darker, moodier florals. Pair with nude pumps or sandals for now, and switch to booties or OTK boots when it cools off.

3. Faux Leather

Wear with a sleeveless blouse and pumps for the ultimate edgy meets chic look. Throw on a jacket once the cooler weather arrives.

4. Mary Janes

Rock your favorite pair of mary janes with bare legs……oh so scandalous 🙂

5. Smart Suit

Ready to dabble in the blazer world? Start off by adding in one of these fall blazers but with lightweight trousers, skirt, or dress. Blazers also look fabulous with denim and boots once it does cool off.

6. Leopard

It’s all the rage right now. You’ve probably been wearing leopard throughout the summer, so keep it up into fall, just lose the cut offs for something a little darker or textured.

7. Ladylike Lace

Keep it classy with a pair of nice trousers or midi skirt. Add in a blazer or cape once it cools off.

8. Faux Leather Tote

Replace your straw tote with a leather one. Welcome fall!

9. Jewel Tones

Sapphire blue, citrine yellow, ruby red, emerald green……not only do we love it, but the fashion world loved it, too, and it was spotted all along the fall 2019 runways.

10. Nail Color

Ditch the neons and opt for a darker hue. The exception is white – you can always wear white, even after Labor Day.

Have a great week! Cheers – MP
