Time to Sweat!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!  I have been having a pretty good week and trying to fight through the end of the week struggles.  Far too many times I find myself wishing it was the weekend, or next week, or next month, or fall, and so on.  It really makes me wonder how much I am missing out on by not being present in my life right now.  With that said, I’m not going to say I can’t wait for the weekend (but come on now, who can’t wait for the weekend?!?!?!)

I wanted to take some time out this evening to discuss my fitness journey over the course of my life 🙂  I have always been an athlete – I played softball and volleyball, ran track, was in gymnastics since before I can remember and was a cheerleader in junior high, high school, and college at the University of Texas.  All those years of intense training kept me in shape and active, and once I graduated college and was in the “real world,” I had to figure out what worked best for me.  A coworker of mine talked me into running a half marathon with her in November 2010, and I’ve pretty much been running ever since.  I learned through time that I needed to add in resistance training and switch up my cardio sessions.  I am currently in week 3 of the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide aka #bbg and am loving it.  I never realized how much of a work out you can get in 28 minutes!  I’m also a huge fan of the @ToneItUp girls and love their work outs and nutrition plan as well.  I just recently learned about @FitnessCarli and am enjoying going through her meal plan, too.  Since I got married last year, I have gained a little weight and slackened up on eating healthy.  I have finally come to terms with it and realized I need to get back on track – so I can have more energy and be more confident!  I am hoping this blog will help hold me accountable to maintaining my exercise routine and healthy eating habits (with of course some toasting here and there!)

Most of the pics below are all running pics, because, like I said, it hasn’t been until more recently that I learned of the importance of strength/resistance training.

Thanks for stopping by – now I’m off to go work out!

Cheers – MP
