How To Build Relationships With Your Followers And With Brands | LadyBossBlogger

Before I started working with LadyBossBlogger a few months ago, I really had no direction as to what I was doing when it came to blogging.  I posted pictures of outfits I liked, wrote about whatever came to mind, and to be completely honest, wasn’t really building relationships with brands and followers.

I cannot even tell you how thankful I am for LadyBossBlogger + Elaine Rau and the course she wrote called “How To Make Money As An Instagram Influencer.”  I have spent the last several weeks really focusing on building relationships with my followers and the brands I work with and it is paying off.

Building Relationships with Followers

Instagram is all about engagement and relationships. It wants to see you engaging with your followers in a genuine way.  It likes when you engage with others, and when Instagram likes what you are doing, you have a better chance of moving up in the algorithm.

Some of the tips from the course that have helped step up my Instagram engagement are the following:

  • Post Daily
  • Ask a question
  • Interact with brands daily
  • Interact with influencers daily
  • Respond to everyone…..yep, everyone
  • Post videos

Also, you want to create a feed that is unique to you but is eye-catching at the same time.  Try using the same filter, style, or layout design.  You want to create a “scroll stopping” feed.  These tips may seem simple, but these, along with several others in the course, will really turn your Instagram game around.  Remember, engage, engage, engage.

Building Relationships With Brands

What brands really want from influencers is a proven ROI.  They want to see what you can do for them, but at the same time, you want to see what the brand can do for you.  Before partnering with any brand, you’ll want to make sure they fit your niche and you are being compensated properly.  Again, this is a relationship, a partnership, if you will, and both sides need to hold up their fair share.

A successful partnership with a brand is one where you help bring transactions to the brand, you are being paid, and you develop a long term relationship that will potentially bring you money for years to come.  Keep in touch with them and send them your stats for social media/blog posts.  There are several ways to do this, and they are all listed within the course.

Common Mistakes Beginner Influencers Make

I think there is a common mistake that most bloggers make (and I am guilty of this as well) when you are first starting out.  In the beginning, when you first start getting the e-mails and DM’s asking to do collaborations, you are so excited that you accept everything.  Maybe it’s something that kind of fits your niche, maybe it isn’t.

You are exchanging Instagram posts for products, and before you know it, your Instagram feed looks like a warehouse store circular – there is everything from food products, to clothing, to baby gear, to outdoor gear, to household items, and vitamins to name a few.

Your followers don’t know “who” you are and what your niche is and get confused.  After a while, it becomes too overwhelming and they start dropping off.  Brands are looking for someone to find value in their products and match that up with an audience that feels the same way.

After finishing this course, it really made me realize I was kind of all over the place with ToasttoPost.  I needed to slow down and focus on working with a few brands at a time and taking the time to build a relationship with each brand.

I was falling too much into the “Quantity over Quality” category when in reality, it needs to be “Quality over Quantity.”  I no longer have a stack of “stuff” piling up to take pictures with, but instead, have items that I truly like and know that my followers will as well.

The influencer world is a crazy world and is constantly changing, and having a guide to walk me through all of it has been vital to me surviving in the Instagram world.
