#PostYourWorkWear

This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. When I returned to blogging/instagram and decided to commit to one full year of it, I kept noticing how there was a lack of women’s professional/workwear content. My feed was full of the cutest little rompers, jumpsuits, dresses, and casual/weekend looks, but for me, I wanted to see more work wear. I have a full time job that requires me to dress professionally. For this to be meaningful for me and to my followers, I need to share what my every day looks are, which happens to be professional attire. I remember being in high school and going to an awards banquet wearing a white skirt suit from Express – it was beautiful! In fact, I’m sure my Mom has the pictures somewhere (looking next time I go home.) My date was in a suit and we both commented on how confident and good we felt being dressed up like that. I still feel that exact same way to this day – 15 years later, and want others to feel the same way when they walk into the office.

The idea is that all of our workwear photos will now be linked together in one central place. And, going forward, I will share some of YOUR photos! I am so excited about this because I feel that it is also a celebration of working women and being proud of who we are; however, this is not only for women, and men are always encouraged to join in on the fun, it’s just my insta analytics show close to 90% of my followers are women 🙂

IGTV/VLOGS

This month, I started uploading vlogs to my IGTV channel. In order to watch them, all you have to do is either search for ToasttoPostblog in IGTV, or go to my name and click the middle button that looks like a TV or see below. The more I get into the vlogs and making the movies, the more comfortable I’m becoming and having fun with it. In fact, I kind of like making the movies better than taking still pics 🙂

Sponsored Posts

I did 2 sponsored posts this month, which I am totally stoked about. The two companies reached out to me via email and we coordinated shipping, posts, etc. One thing I want to be fully clear on with you is that I will never promote a product that I do not believe it. I am not like some of the bloggers out there right now that every time you look at their posts, their promoting a different facial product. I only share things with you that I either a) already use or b) wish I used/in the process of purchasing.

I also did two giveaways – one to Target and one to Nordstrom. Those are really fun and I’ll probably do one or two in July as well.

Events

Babechella

I attended Babechella which was a lot of fun and great to meet other Houston bloggers. I was extremely nervous and somewhat insecure about going by myself. One of the indirect side effects of blogging for me has been to grow and develop and push myself outside of my comfort zone. And this was one of those experiences. Some of these girls have 100,000 followers or more….which just made me be in a little bit of awe!

Loft Shopping Party

Karen from Lady in Violet hosted a Loft shopping party. Another side benefit from blogging is getting to network with other successful women. It is so important to be apart of a community, and I am finding this to be more and more true the older I become. I loved meeting her and getting to chat about blog life and work life – she works at one of the major news stations in Houston!

Books

I finished Ghosted and started The Cactus. Ghosted is a great and easy listen and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Two lovers, one disappears and the other tries frantically to find out what happened. The Cactus is starting off a bit slow for me. I don’t have much to say about it except the main character reminds me a bit of Angela from The Office.

Podcasts

I’m a huge fun of true crime, and when I’m waiting for my Audbile credits to renew, I always find myself catching up on 48 Hours. I think Serial was the first podcast I ever listened to, with 48 Hours being second. And there are so many episodes of 48 Hours that you can listen forever!

I also started listening to Influencer Radio by LiketoKnow.it. It’s really interesting to hear the different backgrounds of the more well-known influencers and how their childhood has influenced the life they now live.

Movies

Murder Mystery – Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler are the perfect pair of Americans traveling to Europe for a delayed honeymoon when they stumble upon the perfect murder. Adam, being the NYPD wannabe detective and Jen, the murder mystery obsessed use their skills to find out who the killer is.

Always Be My Maybe – Ali Wong and Randall Park are hilariously opposites of each other and when their paths cross 16 years after their last time seeing each other, well, you’ll have to watch to find out!

Wine Country – I was expecting a little more old school Saturday Night Live seeing most of the cast are SNL alums. While it had some very funny parts, I also found myself losing interest at times. Nonetheless, a lighthearted comedy worth watching in my book.

Netflix Series

Dead to Me – So, I really must have misheard the person who told me about this series. I seriously thought it was a comedy, and boy was I wrong. I was watching the first episode thinking, “Well, any minute now, the mood is going to change and it will turn into the comedy I thought it was supposed to be.” It never did. But it does a good job of leaving little cliff hangers at the end of each episode to keep you wanting more!

Thanks for reading my June review. These are my favorites to write!

Cheers – MP
