|The Monday Post| #29 – The July Review

“Hot July brings cooling showers,

Apricots and gillyflowers.”

– Sara Coleridge, Pretty Lessons in Verse

Happy Happy hottest month of the year! August is here, there’s not fighting it, so keep the tank tops, flip flops, and sunscreen handy! I may be a few days late at getting this post out, but it really is one of my favorite styles of blog posts to write. The monthly review. I truly believe there is so much power in reflecting on life’s events, and while you cannot change the past, you can learn from it. You can learn from your mistakes. You can learn from your successes. When I put these posts together, I take the time to scroll back through my calendar, pictures, posts, etc. to make sure I truly get a feel for what happened that month. This isn’t just a “these were my top 100 items that sold” post, but rather a reflection on the month.

So let’s get started….first off – COLLABS!

Collabs

As Toast to Post is growing, I’m being approached by more and more companies to collaborate. While these are small opportunities, they are OPPORTUNITIES! I’m getting to learn about new companies and products all while getting to sample them and share with you. Here are the collabs for the month:

Audible Books Listened To

The Cactus – I liked the ending, but it was a little slow for me. Susan is a 45 year old who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant and in the middle of inheritance drama. She kind of reminds me of Angela from The Office.

Next Year in Havana – First of all, I have to admit that I do not have much knowledge on Cuban history. I learned so much as Marisol, who is a Cuban-American, travels back to Cuba and is met with hostility and resentment because her family fled the country during the revolution. This is as much of a love story as a historical fiction as Marisol uncovers a family secret that no one knew existed.

Books Read

The High Tide Club – To be quite honest, I’m still reading this. I try to squeeze a few chapters in every night before bed, but sometimes, it just doesn’t happen. But, this is a great story and fun and easy to read. As mentioned before, I enjoy historical fiction novels, and this is one that flip flops between present day and the past.

Movies Watched

Spider Man: Homecoming and Captain Marvel. I am a Marvel fan and trying to get caught up. I don’t really go to the movies, so I wait for them to either come out on demand to rent or until they are free.

Netflix Series

Another Life – I stepped out of the box a little on this one and thought, “I’ll give the sci-fi movie a chance.” I wasn’t a fan. But I’m the type of person, that once I’m into a story line, I want to know what happens. The acting is horrible, but worst of all, I didn’t get the closure I felt was due with the ending. BUT, a lot of people like the main character, Katee Sackhoff, who is also in Battlestar Galactica, so at least there’s that.

Looking Forward To….

The babies turn 1 this month! Be on the look out SEVERAL BIRTHDAY POSTS! Sorry in advance 🙂

You May Have Noticed…..

My hair is darker. I went more natural. It’s too hard to keep up with and I don’t want to waste my Fridays off getting it done. I want a more natural grow out.

Events

We went to Port Aransas for a family vaca this month. It was so much fun! The babies got to experience the beach, salty air, and sea gulls!

Here’s to wishing you a Happy August!

Cheers – MP
